Introduction - What is Zero Trust and why should you care

This is a course on Zero Trust in IT security, and here is why you should care.

You have probably heard about Zero Trust in IT security before, but may wonder what is the big deal?

Here is my perspective.

Zero Trust is not a product, and also not a buzzword. Anyone telling you that you can buy your way into Zero Trust is wrong. It is a fundamentally better approach to uplevel the security of organisations.

Here is why.

Digital Transformation causes organisations to be an IT organisation, end-to-end.

The consequences are that attack surfaces become bigger, while the defense has to organised across more silos in the organisation.

Zero Trust is about maturity in organising enterprise wide IT security. This spans from strategy to operations, from the board room to the boiler room. If it is not understood from the board down, it is not going to be applied across the organisation.

For this reason, the Cloud Security Alliance has created the CCZT (Certificate of Competence in Zero Trust), which addresses all those layers.

There is a more introductory landing page for the course at https://cczt.clubcloudcomputing.com.
